Game Jams

Game Jams I have been a part of to enjoy being creative.

Mirror

September 2019

Middlesbrough College 2019 Jam

Time: 48 hours

Theme: illusion / Delusion

Mirror.png

Mirror was a game I programmed for the first Middlesbrough college game jam. Starting with the idea of switching between two worlds using teleporting mirrors, we then changed this idea half way through the jam leaving around 14 working hours remaining.

The idea which we switched to while keeping the teleporting mirrors was that we have four puzzles, two parkour and two mazes, and upon completing a puzzle you recieve a mirror shard that can be used to construct a large mirror with a golden frame in the middle of the map to escape the mirror dimension.

Some of the mechanics for the puzzles included: Appearing walls, Disappearing Platforms, moving platforms, Teleporting mirrors, and most importantly the mirror man whos goal was to reset you back to your previous teleported position.

The Darkness Within'

September 2019

Games Creation Society 2019 Jam #1

Time: 36 Hours**

Theme: Darkness

The Darkness Within' was a quick game I made while supervising the Games Creation game jam, spending only about 4-5 hours on it in total, causing it to be partially incomplete. The game was simple in the fact that you had to answer morallity questionable questions with two choses, each with a video which reacts to what you chose.

The start of the game is very open and has many paths, however due to time I then had to merge the last part of the game into a linear progression. Thoughout the game your choices are added up and you are given an ending depending on how immoral you are.

Blood Hunter

October 2018

Games Creation Society 2018 Jam #2

Time: 36 Hours

Theme: Vlad the Impaler

BloodHunter.png

Blood hunter was the first game that I made during a game jam, this was with a team of 4 people (including me), when given the theme we came up with a simple game where you had a target which you had to kill, once killed you move onto the next night, which increases in difficulty making more enemies spawn and the startinng remaining time decreases.

The player is able to kill the target by walking up behind them and then using left click to kill them. Additionally guards are patroling around which the player can kill or they can avoid them by using right click to jump, this allows the player to scale buildings, another mechanic is that the player can kill civilians, which will run away if they spot the player, if successful in killing them the player gains more time.
